Guernsey Gâche Melée
A traditional Guernsey recipe using apples and suet

Ingredients
4 Fresh Guernsey eggs
200g Self raising flour
200g Golden granulated sugar
157g Shredded suet
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Pinch of grated nutmeg
500g Cooking apples
Icing sugar for dusting
Method
1. Mix all the dry ingredients together in a large mixing bowl
2. Peel, core and finely chop the cooking apples and stir into the dry mix using a wooden spoon
3. Whisk the eggs and stir into the apple mix
4. Grease an 8" to 10". Pour in the mix
5. Bake at 180C / 160C (fan oven) / Gas 2-3 for one to one and a half hours
6. Serve warm or cooled with fresh Guernsey cream
